Leonardo Sánchez, miembro de la Asociación Amigos Siempre Amigos, que es parte de los organizadores del evento, dijo que con esta marcha se pretende que el pueblo dominicano entienda que la comunidad gay está integrada igualmente por ciudadanos y ciudadanas con derechos.
El desfile inició en la avenida del Puerto y pretende recorrer las principales vías del Distrito Nacional y Santo Domingo Este, para retornar a su punto de salida. La actividad finalizará con el primer concierto de Solidaridad con el Orgullo GLBT Dominicano (gay, lesbianas, bisexuales y transexuales) en cual estarán participando al menos 20 artistas en apoyo a la comunidad homosexual, según informó Sánchez a elCaribe.

Antes de empezar la actividad, el joven Deivi Ventura intentó usar la bandera nacional y oficiales de la Policía Nacional que se encontraban en la zona le prohibieron usarla. Un agente de apellido Pinales le dijo a Ventura que no podía usar la bandera nacional en ésta manifestación.
A esta actitud, el joven respondió que las personas como él (homosexuales) tienen derecho, son ciudadanos y pueden usar símbolos patrios. Tras el incidente, se llamó a cantar el himno nacional, y todos los presentes ejecutaron el llamado.
